Car rental: documents, deposit and handover
Before paying, request accepted driving documents, a complete quote, the deposit amount and written insurance coverage. A rental company’s willingness to hand over a car does not establish your legal right to drive it.
At handover inspect bodywork, glass, tyres and interior. Photograph and video the condition, fuel and mileage; record defects in the handover report. At return obtain condition and settlement confirmation and retain the agreement and receipts.
Document requirements depend on issuing country and vehicle class. Check Thailand’s Department of Land Transport and your own country’s official consular advice; verify the rental provider’s claims separately.
